Gimkit Snowy Survival is a live game mode built around one mechanic: stay uncursed for as long as possible. One player starts as the cursed chaser, everyone else runs. Getting tagged turns survivors into chasers until the last player falls. It takes about five minutes to learn and runs fast enough to fit inside a single class period.
How to Set Up a Gimkit Snowy Survival Game
The setup process takes under two minutes from the Gimkit dashboard. You can join as a player or spectator before students enter the lobby.
- Start a live game from your Gimkit dashboard.
- Open the Mode Picker, select Snowy Survival, and click Continue.
- Adjust settings on the Game Options screen and click Continue again.
- Click the game code to copy it, then share the direct link — or have students go to gimkit.com/join and type the code.
- Use the Joining as… button in the bottom-left corner to switch between spectator and player view.
- Once students are in the lobby, press the green Start Game button. The map loads within a few seconds.
For ongoing class sessions, the Gimkit host guide covers additional controls available once the game is running.
How Gimkit Snowy Survival Works: Regular vs. Cursed Players
Every round starts with one cursed player. That player carries a Snowball Launcher from the start. Everyone else has no weapon until they farm one.
Controls in Gimkit Snowy Survival
A selector at the bottom center of the screen switches between standard movement and throwing mode. Click the Projectile icon to activate it. On a computer, aim and fire with the mouse. On a touchscreen, tap to throw. WASD keys handle movement, and pressing 1 or 2 swaps between modes quickly.
The Farming Area
Regular players can head to the farming zone, plant seeds, and harvest Snowball Launchers, Med Packs, and gold keys. It’s the only way to arm yourself before getting tagged, so knowing the area’s location early matters.

FAQs
What is Gimkit Snowy Survival?
Gimkit Snowy Survival is a live multiplayer game mode where one player starts as “cursed” and uses a Snowball Launcher to tag others. Tagged players become cursed too. The round ends when no regular players remain.
How many players can join a Gimkit Snowy Survival game?
Snowy Survival supports standard Gimkit live game player limits. Class-sized groups work well, as larger player counts naturally extend round length and increase tension during the mid-game phase.
Can the host stop a Gimkit Snowy Survival round early?
Yes. The host can end any round at any point before the last regular player falls. The game does not require a full completion to record participation or progress.
How do regular players get weapons in Gimkit Snowy Survival?
Regular players visit the farming area on the map, plant seeds, and harvest items including Snowball Launchers, Med Packs, and gold keys. No weapon is issued at the start of the round.
Does Gimkit Snowy Survival work on tablets and phones?
Yes. Touchscreen controls replace mouse aiming — players tap the screen to throw snowballs. Movement and throwing mode switching work the same way as on desktop, adapted for touch input.
